What do you do if everyone is blogging about how awful it is that children have to go back to school after the holidays; how tired they are; how terrible homework is; how tiring the fight to get out of the door….

I have a bubble in my chest wanting to burst and declare that the emperor has no clothes: that school is not compulsory.

Why does society share a collective acceptance of the awfulness of school, especially for little children?
Why is it ‘normal’ for children to be grumpy, cross, and generally a handful for at least half an hour after they get home from school? Why is it normal for everyone to be exhausted at the end of each day, week and term?

I breathe out and breathe in again and try to deflate the bubble. I want to comment but I haven’t got the huevos as they say in Mexico.
