Temporary Art

If you don’t have a doodlie-doodlie in your house you should get one. Everyone in our house doodles on them from time to time but the girls are the biggest fans. The impermanence of the things the children draw and write on them seems to give them huge freedom of expression.

Miss Amoo doesn’t care if her spellings are a bit off or if something doesn’t look right becuase she can get rid of it quickly. Miss Froo draws on it a lot more than she does on paper which she prefers to attack with scissors more than with a pen or pencil. Perhaps she likes the ready-made frame around her work? Who knows. I do know that she loves drawing her Dad (see above outdoors with a beard, indoors on the sofa and then just his face in a smaller size) Mr G is also pleased by the impermanence of the pictures as he is slightly perturbed by the way she views him.

Here’s a sort of related joke

  1. I am reminded to find where our doodly thingy is. I think it was banished when the kids were in that phase of deleting each other’s precious pictures for fun.

We have little magnetic stampers with ours too. I just have to remind the kids not to use the stampers on the tv otherwise dh will spend an hour explaining degaussing to them.
